5 Real Life lessons applied in Game of Thrones.

Once again I have arrived late to the conversation, this time on the topic of the television series Game of Thrones. It’s ironic that a huge science-fiction fan such as myself had not taken the time to watch the series up until now. To be honest, I was originally put off by series when I saw a few photographs online portraying Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons. The idea of tiny shoulder dragons put me off; I now see the error of my ways, how foolish was I.
I know the subscribers of my blog have probably been wondering why I haven’t uploaded any new content over the past few days, the reason is I have been watching Game of Thrones non-stop for the past 4 days. I finished season 3 yesterday. Obviously, I will need to re-watch the show though; I want to make sure I haven’t missed anything.
Interesting enough while watching Game of Thrones I realized that the show portrayed valuable insight on how to live life. Here is what I was able to take away.

1. Secure your own prevalence.

The life you live is yours and you only live it once, nothing else should matter to you. As a human being you have to keep in mind that you are always on your own, even when you think that other individuals are vouching for you, in many cases those people are only trying to obtain their own goals. Life is short and time is too precious for you to go around making sacrifices in order to satisfy those around you, fuck them. This might sound extremely selfish but when you really take a step back and look at your life, whom are you living for? Are you living for yourself or others? Are you trying to secure your own success or the success of others? Finally, do you think that other people will risk their own security for you? One day, your last day of existence you will stop and realized that your life was yours, either you wasted it or you achieved the purpose that you set out to reach. Don’t let others dictate your destiny to you, crush those who stand in your way, and write your own destiny. You are the only one who matters, and who gives a fuck if you are full of yourself!

2. Nothing is for free. Everyone expects something from you in return.

Human beings are all the same at their core. Don’t be fooled by the lies that you are told by those who wish to manipulate you into servitude. Most people don’t ever take the time to acknowledge the obvious, that being the fact that your entire life you have been groomed to serve the purpose of others. The cold hard truth is that even your parents raised you with this intention in mind. Sadly enough most people simply follow tradition, they blindly bow to their elders, and they never question authority or social norms. Here is some advice, fuck traditions and social norms. Help those who help you, help those who have earned your respect, help those who can help you in the future, and never accept help from anyone without first determining their motives. Life is full of tricks; people who seem noble, but who have bad intentions. Life is a game of four-dimensional chess, and everyone is playing don’t fool yourselves into thinking someone else will play the game on your behalf, if you do that you will be royally fucked.

3. Don’t disclose all of your secrets.

Blind trust is a fool’s errand! Guess what those friends you have; well they all talk about you behind your back. This is especially true in complex social environments such as school, work, or religious gatherings. Play the radio game as I call it; to be honest it can be very amusing. The game consists basically of trusting certain individuals with commentary or gossip that you actually want them to spread (without them being aware this is your intention), and waiting for the wild fire to catch. This activity will also show you how little you can trust the people who you are surrounded by. Most people are actually quite weak minded, so spreading the information you want out there can be achieved very easily, all this while limiting the information you do not want others to have about you. Done right you can manipulate a whole herd of people into thinking they know you when in fact they do not know anything about your actual person. You can create this persona who other game players will think they are manipulating when in fact they are doing exactly what you foresaw them doing.

4. Manipulation is the key to success.

Don’t fool yourselves honor, honesty, and purity of heart are all irrelevant. To be honest, you have been manipulated into believing these qualities are what will bring you success, they wont! The truth is and will always be that the cold, ambitious, arrogant, cutthroat will always raise to the top. So while you sit there disclosing all of your secrets to those who surround you, care for how your actions affect others, and worry about whether what you are doing is the right thing, someone else is blazing their way to the top of the hill by undercutting everyone they encounter. Life is a Game of Thrones, and either you are climbing that motherfucking latter to the top, or you are being slaughtered in the pit at the bottom, it’s your choice. I choose to climb.
The more people you are able to manipulate into sub-servitude the higher on that latter you will find yourself. Do not think twice about destroying another person’s goals and ambitions if it will lead you to victory… Karma does not exist, don’t be foolish, take the crown and leave the rest to die.

5. There are Sheep and Wolves, and nothing else.

If you think that there are shepherds you are a fucking moron. Take another glance at your shepherd, he is but another wolf in disguise. Human beings break down into two groups, the ones who are leading, and those who serve. Contrary to what you might believe even the leaders who appear to be doing good are wolves, everything they do they are doing it for themselves. I am a billionaire, I donate a million dollars to a charity who am I benefiting? Sure the money helps those pathetic peasants but I am the real winner. I am always the winner; I get the glee of moral superiority, and the praise of those who surround me. Too many people are fooled by the good doing wolf. It takes a wolf to see a wolf, I see you. Sadly but surely it is extremely easy to manipulate sheep, like I said we have all been groomed to obey. The key difference between the sheep and the wolf is that the wolf has deceived its groomers; the wolf either openly or secretly rejects their influence. The wolf seeks his own perseverance. The wolf loves to pretend to be a sheep; he loves to roam the herd seeking out foolish sheep that might follow him into his den, under the guise that he is a shepherd. The wolf understands wealth, what it really represents, but more than anything the wolf values knowledge. The wolf knows that he same as the sheep will eventually parish, the difference is that the wolf seeks dominance over his final outcome, where as the sheep simply follows through with a course of events that lead up to the conclusion of its empty and pathetic existence. What is the difference between the good wolf, and the bad wolf nothing. The sooner you learn that the further you’ll get in this world believe me.

The bottom-line is that arrogance; pride, selfishness, and deceitfulness are the key to getting what you want out of life. Looking back on this entry I see that this is more about life in general than a simple television show. The show emphasizes a lot of these qualities, but anyone who is aware of the game we play should have already been aware of this reality. Anyway, all of the above being said I would love to hear from my readers, if you agree or think that this is otter hogwash please let me know by leaving a comment. If you really agree don’t be afraid to share the link on your social networks, and subscribing to the RSS feed, like I said nothing is for free.

  1. I enjoyed reading this article. It does seem to explain the fundamental principles of the real life game of thrones people play every day. I am really good at playing the sheep role when I need to and keeping hidden my actual wolf role. :)
